My journey with Testing started when I landed my first job. I got campus placed in a well-reputed MNC. As a fresher, I didn’t have much of a choice and was straight away put into a project as a Tester. It was a big enough testing team and worked hard and sincerely(being my first time in the corporate). With the support of my manager and lead, I cleared #ISTQB within 6months of the project.
Elsewhere, my other friends and seniors who were working in different technologies would always look down upon this career of mine at social gatherings. 3 years later, after switching multiple projects, I felt my work was monotonous. I started to look for other career options. I tried my hand at various roles in other projects. I pursued a course in Management as well.
Then there came a point where I quit my job and hit a very low due to an unanticipated personal loss. All this while, I was trying to move away from Testing. And one fine day as fate would have wanted it, Testing sought and came to me again in the form of a job offer (at Qapitol QA).
This time I embraced it with open arms with a blank mindset(nothing positive, nothing negative)
I discovered Testing is very different from what is taught in training and in some books. Got the opportunity to learn from leaders like Ajay Balamurugadas, Kushal Kumar, and Satyam Dixit. I started to enjoy my work.
I got introduced to The Test Tribe Community, a global community for Testers. I attended their events (#Failqonf, #TTL – turning point 1) and met some amazing fellow Testers.
I pair learned with some of the testers I got introduced here like – Rahul Parwal, Himani Yadav, Deviprasad Polavarapu, Pallavi Hatole, and published our learning notes through a wonderful community Synapse QA – Learn | Share | Grow.
Got introduced to #JerryWeinberg‘s work (turning point 2).
From the time when I dreaded Monday mornings, to the time when I now eagerly look forward to Monday mornings, I fell in love with Testing.
Now I test 7 days a week and given another 8th day, I would still love to indulge in Testing 🙂
Why do I love Testing?
